Cordless Lawn Mowers have a number of advantages over their gas powered counterparts - no gas cans or oil cans to deal with, no unreliable pull cord starting, they are considerably quieter and more environmentally friendly. The Worx WG788 Cordless Lawn Mower is one of the more popular mowers on the market, so let's take a look at its features and what it has to offer.
Unlike many other mowers this model has two settings; "quiet" and "power". The quiet setting is fine for everyday mowing and, as you might expect, it is much quieter than a gas powered mower. The power setting is really for longer grass where a little more oomph is needed. This will lead to a slight increase in volume, but it is still pretty quiet. The power setting also tends to drain the battery a little quicker.
Electric Mower
The WG788 is a 3-in-1 mower; in other words it has three different ways of dealing with the grass clippings. Perhaps the most convenient setting is the mulch setting which cuts the clippings into very small pieces which is then discharged onto the lawn to rot down and feed it. You may find that this works best when the grass is dry and not too tall. If you prefer you can set it to side discharge where the clippings are simply discharged out of the side of the mower. Or if you prefer you can use the traditional rear bag option so you can collect the clippings to put onto your compost heap.
In normal conditions you should be able to mow up a 18,500 feet with a single charge. However, in damp conditions it has to work harder to get the job done and therefore the battery is discharged quicker. The battery is removable so if your yard is larger than 18,500 feet then you may want to consider purchasing a second battery otherwise you will have to stop and recharge.
Being a cordless electric lawn mower it is extremely easy to start - just flick the switch and you are away. The push handle is easily adjustable so that you can find the position that is most comfortable for you. Also the cutting height is easily adjusted with a single lever.
Perhaps the only downside that I have come across is that it is not self-propelled. However, it is extremely light (the heaviest component being the battery) so it actually only requires the minimum of effort to push along.
Overall, I would say that the Worx WG788 Cordless 3-In-1 Lawn Mower deserves its place as one of the best selling cordless lawn mowers and certainly overcomes the many issues that are associated with gas powered mowers.
